LinkMaps™ - Link Popularity Reporting ToolLink popularity is an important factor in achieving search engine rankings. However, the best link campaign will fail if the search engines don't spider your inbound links. Since different search engines have different spidering capabilities and indexes, many of the inbound links found by one may not be found by another. To make the most of your link campaign, LinkMaps™ creates pages that help the search engines see all of the inbound links found by other search engines. How does LinkMaps™ work?
LinkMaps™ does an initial link analysis and sees which inbound links are found in each engine. It presents this information to you in an easy–to–read table so you can see if one link has been indexed by multiple search engines or not. You will most likely see that many of your links have only been detected by one or two search engines, leaving other engines with an incomplete picture of your link popularity. NOTE: See which of your inbound links are being picked up by the search engines today with our free link analyzer-one part of the tools you get with a subscription to LinkMaps™. After the analysis, LinkMaps™ compiles a list of all of your inbound links eliminating:
Then, you may go through the list and manually delete any links that you do not want the search engines to index and add any links that have not yet been indexed by any search engine. You can choose whether or not to include redirected links in your list and links from search engine results (SERPs) after all, SERPs are pages too. Finally, LinkMaps™ will create pages with links to websites that link to you in an SERP format. This page has a "No Index, Follow" tag on it so all it does is help search engine spiders follow links to pages that link to you so they can index the inbound link. Standard LinkMaps™ pages should not be indexed and will not show up in search results. All they do is help the spider access every inbound link so your website is credited with their full link popularity. IMPORTANT: Effective January 1, 2007, Version 2 of LinkMaps does not require you to upload, link, or otherwise have your site connected to LinkMaps pages. The changes made by the search engines to spider pages more effectively has been included into LinkMaps, so you do not need to link or submit the LinkMaps pages to the search engines. We maintain those pages in external files and you do not have to connect to them in any way. Additional FeaturesFind Potential Link Partners by KeywordTry to locate potential link partners by keyword with a tool that searches all of the major search engines for websites that indicate that they may be a good link exchange target for that word. This page lists the rankings across all the major search engines of each potential link partner, so you can be sure that you are getting links from well ranked webpages. Just scroll down the list and click through to request quality link exchanges. Locate Link Campaign Targets by Looking at Your CompetitionThe real key to having a successful link campaign is to see what your competition is doing and then go the extra mile. With LinkMaps™, you can look at the backlinks of up to 6 of your competitors and see which links they have in common. Chances are that if a site has linked to 2 or more of your direct competitors, they will also be willing to link to you.
Spider a Page to Find Your LinkIf you think that a site may be linking to you, but you cannot find the link anywhere, use LinkMaps™ to spider the page and parse out all of the links on that page into a simple list. This is especially useful to find your link when someone accidentally misspells your URL, which makes it hard to simply search for your URL in their code. NOTE: If a site is not linking to you properly or is hiding their link to you in their code, remember to e-mail them and ask them to fix the link as soon as possible. Searching Your LinkMaps™ PagesLinkMaps™ includes a search mechanism that allows you to search your links easily. If you are not sure how many links you have related to a particular keyword, just search for it and see the results instantly. Check Your Link Campaign ProgressKeep tabs on how well your link campaign is going by seeing which pages on your website are ranked in the top 10 in each of the major search engines and how many inbound links each engine has indexed for each particular page. System RequirementsTo use LinkMaps™, you don't really need to do anything to your server. All server activity occurs on the SEOToolSet™ and there are no server side scripts or files required. |
